"A death unworthy of the name" - Snakes Sir Merek (ンブランド卿, Burando-Kyō) is the former Captain-Commander who was infected and killed in the Shadow invasion. Before his death, Sir Merek was a highly respected leader, and lead the 5th Division for many years before his predecessor retired and he became the commander. Sir Merek was on the losing side of the Second Shinigami Civil War, however as a sign of good faith the current commander named him her successor. His lieutenant was Song Li, and he has left a legacy in his two children, Merek the Second and Regan.
