The Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) is a terrorist group featured in Medal of Honor: Warfighter. The Abu Sayyaf is an Islamist separatist group with ties to Al-Qaeda, based in the southern Philippines. The group appeared in the early 1990s, with the stated goal of creating an Islamic theocracy in Basilan and Jolo. They have primarily acted through bombings, kidnappings, assassinations and extortion which fund the group’s continued operations. The group utilizes whatever weapons they can access and relies on grenades, improvised explosive devices (primarily derived from land mines), machine guns, RPGs and more.
