Patrick Stirling (No. 1) is an old and wise Stirling Single engine. He is kind to the younger engines, and is found helping James be more considerate, especially towards Emily, his favourite daughter. His wife Sally Stirling (Hanna and Emily's mother) died when Emily was just three months old, and Patrick lied to Hanna and Emily that Sally had to move on, until Emily was 17 years old. Patrick is based on the GNR Stirling Single, like his daughters.
