A big-ass sword is a sword so big that it couldn't reasonably be used by any normal person. Think Cloud, from FF7. We don't give these out easily- only a few characters can handle them. Demons are an exception, they can pretty much do whatever they want, including wield 8-foot-tall swords. Made of obsidian. They're just that awesome.
