The O-zone was a force field device that created a strong containment field that Miles O'Brien attempted to capture the disoriented Constable Odo with in the year 2370. Unfortunately, the field was not able to hold the Changeling, and the amnesiac Odo was able to escape. (DS9 comic: "Lapse")
