This is a term typically used within the United States to refer to a school that encompasses early school years. In the U.S.A., these years can be Kindergarten through Third Grade (about 8 years old) to the exclusion of any other level of education. In older systems it would cover First through Sixth Grade (about 6-11 year olds). In many systems now, Nursery school and Kindergarten years have been added to the same school building where students continue through to Fifth Grade. The following years are spent in Junior High or Middle School.
