Jaffen was a Norvalen engineer, who worked at the Central Power Facility on Quarra in 2377. His employee number was 1326. As a Norvalen he didn't have a father, which was unknown to a man who wanted to provoke Jaffen by insulting his father. He was also a self-described perfectionist regarding cooking. Jaffen was played by actor James Read. Jaffen was described in the script as a "humanoid, in his forties, handsome, sharp and appealing."
