North Kawartha was created in 1998 through the amalgamation of the Townships of Burleigh & Anstruther and Chandos. It is a composite department consisting of 3 full-time staff (Fire Chief, Fire Prevention Officer, Fire Officer) and roughly 40 paid-on-call members.
