Founded in 1890, the University of Oklahoma offers, among other courses, high-level research and teaching in engineering, and winning numerous championships in foodball, baseball and gymnastics, University of Oklahoma and is ranked high in the National Merit Scholars and Rhodes Scholars. Notable in its campus are the Fred Jones Jr. Museum of Art and the Sam Noble Oklahoma Museum of Natural History.
