Margaret Bennet is the biological mother of Annie. She gave birth to Annie and since she and David Bennet don't have enough money to raise her. They sent her to an orphanage. Giving a broken locket and a letter. The other half is with Miss Hannigan so that one day they can claim her. However she died in a fire too early.
