Dudley Francis Stuart Ryder (16 January 1831 – 26 March 1900), known as Viscount Sandon from 1847 to 1882, and as Earl of Harrowby from 1882 to 1900 was a peer and Conservative Party politician. He sat as member of parliament for Lichfield from 1856 to 1859 and for Liverpool from 1868 to 1882, when he succeeded to the peerage. He was briefly a member of the London School Board, elected for Westminster in November 1870, he resigned 21 February 1872. He went to hold a number of Cabinet posts. He died childless, and his younger brother succeeded him as Earl. Wikipedia article [1].
