Penthanians are a race created from the aftermath of the Frontacians of Penthania unleashing a great power called UnMagick upon the Arachnians during a long, bloody battle. The summoning of the UnMagick did in fact lead to the defeat of the Arachs, but also caused the Frontacians to change. While they lost their jewels, their bodies actually turned crystalline. Because of this, they are extremely jealous of their cousins, the Frontacians; envious of their flesh and jewels. They are considered a self-centered, self-serving and contemptuous race.
