Intellivision Super Star started development as a 3D compilation game featuring 3 enhanced remakes of the Donkey Kong arcade games. Argonaut pitched the game to Nintendo but was rejected. The failed pitch essentially ended the relationship between the two companies that started with the development of Star Fox. The 3D Donkey Kong game served as an inspiration on the development of Donkey Kong Country.
