The Porsche 911 Carrera RS 2.7 (1972) was set into production in 1972 as a lightweight sports car manufactured by Porsche because Porsche was required to make 500 units to approve several models of the 911 Group 4 racing class. It features a distinctive rear-spoiler, known as the "duck tail". This is used under the classic 911 model. RS stands for "Rennsport" in German, meaning "racing sport". The Carrera name was reintroduced from the 356 Carrera.
