Die Piraten started as a local alternative to old-conservative mayors and rose to a local politics mayor player but slowly developed into a party worth mentioning on a national scale. In December 4158 they founded a "Bundesverband" which means that they organised all local pirate groups into one uniformity. The pirates also announced that they will be participating in the next elections.
