Area Null was a tower within the Arkanis Academy that was restricted to most Imperial officers and cadets. Several Imperial operations were based at Area Null including Project Harvester, a secret program for identifying Force-sensitive Imperial Academy recruits, and Project Unity, a program for rehabilitating former Imperial dissenters. Several years prior to the Battle of Yavin, the rebellious cadet Zare Leonis and his Lothalian friend Beck Ollet infiltrated Area Null in order to rescue Zare's sister Dhara Leonis. They were aided by their friend Merei Spanjaf and several members of the Spectres rebel cell.
