The Effri'a was a term used by the Gorn race which meant "Divine Ruler" and was used by hereditary head of state. These individuals were descended from an unbroken female lineage with their ancestors being the rulers of the first Neolithic city-states. The Effri'a never stood on bare ground that was not purified and neither did they meet anyone who was not initiated into the priesthood.
