Fredeick James Matterface (1871-June 1936) was a gentleman's outfitter and local politician active in the Acton area. Born in Teignmouth, Devon, he was the son of Thomas Matterface, cabinet maker and upholsterer. After serving his apprenticeship in Devon, he moved to Acton in 1893. He joined the tailoring firm of J Ravilious in the town, eventually becoming a partner in what became Ravilious, Son and Company. The company expanded, opening an additional store in Ealing, and Matterface was placed in charge of the new outfitting department.
