Karithal was a female Thallonian who served in the Federation Starfleet in the late-24th century. In March 2384, Lieutenant Karithal was the deputy security chief aboard the USS Atlas. She was part of the skeleton crew of the Atlas while the Sovereign-class starship was in orbit of Orion during a secret summit between the Gorn Hegemony and the United Federation of Planets.
