That all changed in 19 BBY when Chancellor Palpatine commenced Order 66 in his plan to exterminate the Jedi Order. Savio was fighting on Zukala at the time under Jedi General Sho Sakrav. Savio received Palpatine's order, but he refused to execute his commanding officer. His fellow comrades, now led by CC-4567, followed the order and attempted to execute Savio and Sakrav. Escaping the betrayal fo their troops, Savio and Sakrav later joined the Rebel Alliance against the Galactic Empire. While leading a raiding an Imperial outpost on Zukala in 2 ABY, Savio was killed when Darth Vader ran through him with a lightsaber.
