A variety of tortoise ad only recently exchanged a terrestrial life for life in the water, it is not true turtle at all. it's shell has evidence of land living past similar to some asian tortoises because its carpace, but head and face is similar to unrelated American Snapping Turtles. The species rejected the herbivorous diet of their tortoise ancestors instead favoured meat. They are ambush predators waiting hidden in the reeds and mud to drag wading birds and other unsupecting prey to their watery doom.
