The Base Set of 2000 Bowman's Best is made up of 200 cards. Cards 1-100 feature current major league veterans, 101-150 is made up of prospects, and 151-200 are rookies and prospects. Cards 151-200 were short printed, inserted at a rate of 1:7 hobby packs, and serial numbered to 2999 copies each. Upon release the popular rookies in the set included: Brett Myers, Francisco Rodriguez, Mike Lamb, Rick Asadoorian, and Chin-Feng Chen. Looking back now the historical rookies in this set are Johan Santana and Barry Zito.
