The 1962 Atlanta 500 was a Grand National (now Nextel Cup) event held at Atlanta Motor Speedway on June 10, 1962. Fred Lorenzen had built up a commanding lead in the mid-portions of the race when a heavy rainstorm ended the race early. Lorenzen claimed his first victory of the year.
