At some point before the time-skip that occurs between Monochrome and Nova, he also participated in the Hoen League and became the runner up before finally leaving the region to go travel to the Orange Archipelagos where he apparently trained under his father for two years; a former Pokémon trainer and champion. Upon his return, he followed the footsteps of his grandfather and joined the ranks of Pokémon Rangers. He was also one of the few people who climbed to the ranks of Senior Ranger before turning eighteen.
