South Carbrain is a residential area of the New Town, Cumbernauld. It was one of the first areas to be built of the new town. Along with North Carbrain, the area was originally all called Carbrain until the CDC decided it was too large and split it in two. It is bounded to the North by the North Carbrain, to the East by Kildrum, to the West by Greenfaulds and to the South by Lenziemill and open farm Land.
