The 982nd Fighter Wing was an Imperial Navy starfighter wing active during the Galactic Civil War, stationed aboard the Divine Wind, an Assassin-class corvette. Formed roughly around 4 BBY, the unit was originally composed of mediocre cadets from backwater planets. However, after a victory over the Nami pirates in the Outer Rim Territories, the 982nd begun to gain more successes, making them one of the most effective fighting forces in the Imperial fleet. In 2 ABY, the unit was given the advanced TIE/ad Avengers.
