Echorbel (S."Encircling Fence") was the name given by the DĂșnedain to the hills and rugged terrain forming the outer edges of the Harondor Uplands, in common usage, they were spoken of separately: the Emyn Laer in the north, the Emyn Imladrim in the south, and the Emyn AnnĂ»n in the far west. The central plateau they enclosed, some 1,500 to 2,000 feet above the surrounding lowlands, was the Aegardh. The Echorbel, at its eastern margins, merged with the jumbled foothills and jagged ridges of the Ephel Duath.
