This is Aventis' brand name for its NPH/isophane suspension insulin, which is intermediate-acting. Both Novo Nordisk and Eli Lilly produce similar insulins under the names Novolin N, Insulatard, Protaphane, Humulin N and Humulin I. Like all other isophane/protamine suspended insulins, it is a crystalline suspension with protamine.
