The Flight II Hakurei class frigates will be equipped with the S-500F-F air defense system. A first batch of six Flight II ships, starting with HMS Fujiwara no Mokou (FF-45), were ordered in 2017; the Langley Navy plans to order an additional twelve ships over the next 3-5 years to replace its Excalibur class corvettes. All Flight I ships in service will be upgraded to Flight II standard during that same period.
