Dave Bonsall was the head of Weatherfield Adult Education Centre in 2010. On 12th March of that year, he interviewed John Stape for a teaching job there and was so impressed by his enthusiasm for the job that he overlooked a gap in his CV. John claimed he used the time to travel, but in reality he had been serving a custodial sentence at Highfield Prison for kidnapping Rosie Webster. Dave instantly offered him the job. On 29th March, John's lie was uncovered when a CRB check revealed his criminal record, and Dave sacked him on the spot.
