All T1 mobile artillery have the characteristics of a high firing angle, giving them the ability to shoot over obstacles otherwise known as indirect fire. They also have great DPS for their mass cost, and are therefore still useful in some circumstances late in the game. Early on, they are employed largely to destroy T1 point defenses due to their long ranges, and can, if ordered to attack a point just next to the point defense, usually destroy them without even getting into their range.
