Kira Nerys was a 24th century Bajoran woman in the universe that became known as the 47th universe. She was a daughter of the Kira family, born to Kira Taban and his wife Kira Meru. Her brother was named Kira Pol. In her early life, Nerys was betrothed to Colonel General Shakaar Edon. They were briefly married, and Nerys took his family name, becoming Shakaar Nerys. Shakaar's command cruiser was lost shortly thereafter, and the widowed Nerys declined to keep his family name.
