Population control is a term that describes efforts made (whether by Conservatives or liberals) to limit the population. Some highly-populated countries (such as China and India) practice population control to stop overpopulation, though it is not the only reason for practicing population control. While in some countries, population control is not extremely invasive (so that families which want to have many children can do so), in some places the government actively enforces population control -- for example, in Uzbekistan, women are secretly sterilized.
