The Greenwoods River is a tributary of the Vassa River which extends 60 miles into Tortall from the Tortall-Scanra border. The refugee camps of Haven and New Hope neighbor it. Like most Scanran rivers, the Greenwoods is extremely cold, deep, and fast. In early April, its winter ice was still breaking up. As judged by Lady Knight Keladry of Mindelan, the river is about 20 feet wide and 15 feet deep where it runs by Haven. The river is impossible to ford at any time but summer (and even then only in a few places).
