Cleigg Lars was a male homestead owner and nerf herder on Tatooine. He married Shmi Skywalker, who was Anakin Skywalker’s mother. Cleigg had already had a son, Owen Lars, who became Anakin’s step-brother. Shortly after his marriage to Shmi, she was allegedly captured by Sand People. In an attempt to rescue her, Cleigg went out looking for her, but was bitten in half by a Krayt Dragon. He was confined to a repulsorchair for the rest of his life, prohibiting him from continuing to herd nerfs and riding speeder bikes.
