The single was released on September 7, 2005, the single V was released on September 14, 2005 under the same label. "Miss Love Tantei" is W's last single released due to the termination of Kago Ai's contract. It was also their lowest selling single, presumably due to their year-long hiatus caused by Kago Ai's suspension for underage smoking. The single peaked at #13 on the Oricon weekly charts and sold 18,099 copies overall. The single V peaked at #2 and sold 9,836 copies overall.
