Jones is known to a whole generation as Principal Ed Rooney in Ferris Bueller's Day Off and has also worked in several films by Tim Burton, including Beetlejuice and Sleepy Hollow. He also appeared in the Academy Award-winning film Amadeus. More recently, he has a recurring role as A.W. Merrick on the HBO series Deadwood.
