After the formal collapse of the Sultanate of Grand Seljuk in 1094 (and indeed before this date) many new political entities were formed. These were short lasting; those that didn't get annexed by the Ummayad Caliphate were to befall a worse fate in 1258, with the invasion of Mongol armies under Hulegu Khan.
