The Kooskaru are a diminutive sapient species evolved from burrowing ancestors. They hail from a planet which the Galyari have named "Galyar", believing it to be their homeworld. The Galyari regarded the Kooskaru as pests and attempted to exterminate them, but this was prevented by the Doctor, who banished the Galyari from the world they believed was rightfully theirs.
