Mikuru invites Kyon on a shopping trip. While it's not a date, Kyon likes to pretend it is. Mikuru takes a dress into the changeroom, while Kyon is surprised by Nagato, who also appears to be dressed up (apparently a store employee made her do it). Nagato vanishes while Mikuru appears in a low-cut outfit. Koizumi interrupts the "not-a-date", and while Mikuru runs off, he tells Kyon that everyone "wears masks" and that Mikuru's nature is likely one as well. Kyon brushes it off, but feels upset that the "date-like atmosphere" was ruined.
