A type 3 disruptor was a form of energy weapon used by many species that was known for not having a stun setting. By 2370, this type of disruptor was mainly used by the Klingons, the Breen, and the Romulans. Like other disruptor weapons, the type 3 left the victim with disruptor burns. The burns were what classified the type 3 (among other disruptors) as a cruel weapon by many races including Humans and Vulcans. (Star Trek Generations)
