Sarboe played college football at Washington State. He played in the National Football League for the Boston Redskins in 1934. He also played for the Chicago Cardinals and the Brooklyn Dodgers. He completed only 42.3 percent of his passes for just 1,133 yards, had a 4–26 career touchdown to interception ratio, and a career passer rating of 27.9.
