A Heavy Bolter is a heavy supression weapon used by Space Marine Devastator squads. It serves as a machine gun. Best used from heavy cover, these weapons are very deadly. With the focus fire ability in use, any infantry caught in the open without cover will be supressed and slaughtered quickly unless they fall back. The weakness of Heavy Bolters is their ineffectiveness against vehicles. Another good counter to Heavy Bolters are Assault squads such as Assault Marines or Warp Spiders. In the campaign, it is Avitus' default weapon.
