Rambles was a nephew of Mumbles. He was a law-abiding citizen, with a job as a taxi driver. He was long-winded and talkative, which annoyed some of his passengers. When the criminal Feets Diamond learned that Mumbles had returned to the city and was trying to contact a relative, he believed that Mumbles may have told Rambles the location of the stolen jewel The Star of Ranjipooie. Feets abducted Rambles (as he had done with Mumbles' other nephew Whispers) and tried to beat the information out him. Rambles knew nothing, and his loquacious personality frustrated Feets. Feets tossed Rambles into a river. Rambles survived and was rescued by Dick Tracy and the police.
