Vevec Skirata was the son of Chernan and Dinua Skirata, a pair of Mandalorian warriors. Vevec's parents adopted another child, Dankin, a street urchin. When the First Great Galactic War heightened, Vevec's parents left their kids on Coruscant so they would not be caught in the war. Vevec was left with one of Dinua's old comrades, a Special Forces officer. Vevec trained as a Special Forces officer and, due to his expertise in explosives, earned the nickname Backblast. Eventually, Backblast rose to the rank of colonel in Special Forces.
