The attack caused the deaths and injuries of at least a hundred people, including the unnamed father of Joe Hankos. At the time, it was considered one of the most devastating domestic terrorist attacks on American soil in decades. Two years later, in 2015, during Patience (episode), the remaining members of the main NCIS Major Case Response Team including NCIS Agents Timothy McGee and Eleanor Bishop as well NCIS Medical Examiner Dr. Donald Mallard, his assistant and Forensic Scientist Abigail Sciuto were all brought into the operation.
