The Grand Vizier, also known as the Grand Chancellor or Lord Chancellor, is the head of government and primary bureaucrat of the Galactic Empire, charged with maintaining day-to-day operations of the Empire and the bureaucracy. It is the third-highest rank, under the Galactic Emperor and the Military Executor. The Vizier supervises the departments and ministries of the government and acts as personal assistant to the Emperor. The Grand Vizier basically performs all the day-to-day duties the Emperor cannot, due to his Sith meditations and wide-ranging goals. He acts as the Emperor's intermediary; few speaks to "His Imperial Majesty" without first going through the Vizier.
