Alfalfa has launched a detective agency, and designated Porky and Buckwheat as deputies. Alfalfa's first client is Darla, who complains that her doll, Jennifer, is missing. Spanky is the prime suspect. The boys try to find clues, then discover writing on a notepad with instructions on where to acquire a package that Alfalfa learns is a microscope for a birthday party in his honor.
