The Giver is an award-winning children book by Lois Lowry published in 1993. It is followed by Gathering Blue, Messenger and Son. The book was made into movies in 2014, starring Brenton Thwaites and Jeff Bridges. Jonas, a 12-year-old boy, lives in a community which has gone through 'sameness'.
