Ryan Brunt is a forward who was signed from Stoke City by manager John Ward during the January 2013 transfer window. He immediately found himself in the starting eleven, making his debut in a 3–1 victory over Rotherham United on 26 January. Six days later he made his home debut in a Friday night League Two fixture against Barnet. In an eventful climax to the match, Brunt scored his first goal for The Gas, a 93rd-minute winner, earning what seemed an unlikely 2–1 victory after Barnet had equalised in the 90th minute.
